ilovebacteria.com
was created to explain science to people who do not necessarily
have a scientific background. We believe science is for everyone,
not just laboratory researchers or high school students! Whether
you're considering a career in science, or are simply interested
in the workings of the world around us, there will hopefully be
something here to interest you.
The author's day job is in a microbiology lab and it is her life
goal in life to convince the world that bacteria really are our
friends, explaining the origin of the web site's name. Once upon
a time, this site went by the name of ratlab.co.uk. Since then,
the rat has been retired and the web site updated and more information
added, including the brand new section introducing visitors to
some of our friends in the bacterial world. The original strange
facts section has returned, and suggestions for questions that
you would like to see answered are always appreciated. You'll
also find a selection of DIY experiments that you can carry out
in the comfort of your own kitchen using common household items
(but please consult a responsible person first to prevent any
loss of limbs etc). Another new section includes explanations
of some common scientific terms, written in basic, easy to understand
language. Lots more features are planned for the future, so please
check back again soon.
Please email me with any comments, suggestions or requests and I'll do my best to get back to you as soon as I can. This web site is self-funded (I don't get paid for running this site) and updates depend on when I find time out from my proper job. So please bear with me if your questions aren't answered immediately - there's only one of me here! Sorry, but I just don't have time to help with individual science fair projects or homework as I have a full time job on top of running this web site. Some of the info on this site is my personal opinion/educated guess and I can't promise that I am always correct. As with everything you read on the net, please make sure you research it properly and get your info from a wide range of sources if using it for anything important!
Quick Note: Sometimes my spam checker gets over-excited and sends a real email to the spam folder. I don't have time to check through the thousands of spam mails I get to check that they all really are spam, so I will sometimes miss your email. Sorry if this happens, I'm not intentionally ignoring you!
Thanks for visiting.
